In this video, Chuck Keith covers one of the three cloud service models: Software as a Service, commonly referred to as “SaaS.” He focuses primarily on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, walking you through cloud computing fundamentals with an eye on how to prepare for and pass the Azure AZ-900 exam.

Discusses/intros Platform as a Service (writing code)

Chuck begins by introducing Software as a Service (SaaS) as one side of the triangle that forms the cloud. The other two, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) are briefly discussed as he provides the context necessary for you to understand what SaaS brings to the picture. IaaS focuses primarily on data centers, networks & firewalls, and servers & storage, while PaaS adds various developer tools and operating systems into the mix. SaaS, however, is the broadest of the three, touching aspects of both IaaS and PaaS and adding the full library of hosted applications. Wrapping your mind around how these three interact is critical to an accurate business and technological understanding of the cloud.

  1. I liked your video and your presentation. One thing I would recommend, with all due respect, is to turn down high sounds like the "sss" sounds. They're a bit too loud, hurting my ears when wearing headphones. Maybe another mic, further away from the mouth or EQing the video? Thanks!

  2. This is such an insightful video! There's another way though! There's a platform called LeadX 360 that allows you to leverage your employees & associates to generate hot leads.

  3. Thank you for this video. You explained SaaS in a simple way and cited good examples.
I have a query though. Apologies in advance if this seems like a dumb question (I'm completely new to SaaS and cloud computing). So, here goes –
What is the difference between a regular web application (for example, Expedia, TripAdvisor, etc.) and a SaaS solution? In other words, what's the dividing line post which a web application transforms into a SaaS solution?
    Thanks in advance!

  4. At 0:21 you said "So far in our journey we have talked about infrastructure as a service." I never saw that video. In your future videos, if you talk about an old video, can you provide links to it? or provide the title of the old video, or something? Something like: "for people who have seen the previous video: great; for people who haven't, here's the link to go watch it."

  5. I will shut down my computer forever in the not too distant future I guess 🙂 And then I will be a total pleb, having access to nothing anymore :'D So what, we will all be plebs by then:

" Biological annihilation via the ongoing sixth mass extinction signaled by vertebrate population losses and declines"

" How tech's richest plan to save themselves after the apocalypse…"
